The NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) is a new way of providing individualised support for people with permanent disability that affects their ability to take part in everyday activities. It will improve the lives of Australians with a disability, their families and carers, by placing choice and control of the services they require in hands of the people who need them.
The Scheme is being implemented by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). It connects participants with community and mainstream supports and funds reasonable and necessary to assist them to pursue their goals and aspirations, and participate in daily life.
To find out more about how the NDIS will affect you, and to create your NDIS plan, visit the NDIS website at https://www.ndis.gov.au/index.html. You will find useful tools and videos to help you prepare for and make the most out of the NDIS.
